Rebecca L. Smitherman

About Rebecca

Rebecca is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and is a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.  Her practice areas include estate planning, estate administration, trust administration, and corporate law.  Rebecca is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”).  Fellows of ACTEC are leading members of the trust and estate profession who have made substantial contributions to and demonstrated exceptional skill in the field of trusts and estates.  Rebecca is also an adjunct professor at Wake Forest University School of Law.

Rebecca is on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Bar Foundation and the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association.  Rebecca is also a member of the Legislative Committee of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and is the past chair of the Section, having served in various leadership roles prior to that.  She is also a past president of the Estate Planning Council of Winston-Salem.  Rebecca is a member of the Forsyth County Bar Association and the Forsyth County Women Attorneys Association.  She maintains involvement with the Community Philanthropy Builders with the Winston-Salem Foundation.

Rebecca enjoys playing golf, reading science fiction novels, and travelling.  On what she has enjoyed about being an attorney, Rebecca says this: I like meeting clients from different walks of life and learning about their businesses, their families, and how we might be able to help them.  I think I learn a lot from my clients.
