Attorney Lawson Newton and his assistant Kathy Adams are celebrating an anniversary. They have been working together side by side for 25 years. What an accomplishment! They claim to be able to finish each other’s sentences after so much time together. (They even color coordinate). We are truly proud that we have such a dedicated team and hope we have many more anniversaries to come.
Craige Jenkins Liipfert & Walker collected and provided much needed school supplies to Forest Park Elementary School. The supplies were a huge surprise, and the teachers – and students – were very excited.
Congratulations to our own Bo Drew and Ann Sugg for a unanimous N.C. Supreme Court decision in favor of our clients. In High Point Bank and Trust Company v. Highmark Properties LLC, decided September 25, 2015, the Court addressed issues of first impression regarding guaranty payments, bank powers, foreclosures and deficiency judgments. We are proud of our trial attorneys for their months of hard work and their success on behalf of our clients.
In July, 2015, our newly merged law firm was featured on the cover of Forsyth Woman magazine, along with a feature article on the merger and our mission to be the best comprehensive full-service firm in the Triad. The new Craige Jenkins Liipfert & Walker LLP provides exceptional legal services to individuals, families and businesses in a caring, responsive, and dedicated manner. CJLW is excited for its future!
On July 1, 2015, our two firms, Craige Brawley Liipfert & Walker LLP and Jenkins Law Group PLLC, merged into Craige Jenkins Liipfert & Walker LLP. Two great names got better! Our combined law firms can now bring you more services and resources with the same exceptional client care.
Our own attorneys Rebecca L. Smitherman and Susan J. Ryan were recognized by SuperLawyers magazine for the second consecutive year as Rising Stars in their areas of practice. SuperLawyers magazine reviews thousands of lawyers around the state and chooses those attorneys who show particular expertise and promise in their particular specialty. Congratulations to Rebecca and Susan on this distinguished recognition!
Until now, individuals with disabilities could lose access to government benefits such as Medicaid and SSI if they established even a modest savings or income. Parents were told not to open any kind of account in their disabled child’s name over $2,000.00, and individuals with disabilities were told not to get jobs that would make over $721 per month, because either scenario might cause the disabled individual to lose vital government benefits. Now, the Achieving a Better Life Experience Act of 2014 (“ABLE”) allows families and individuals with disabilities to create tax-advantaged plans without losing the benefits available through government programs, and allows individuals with disabilities to save for their own futures.
