What have you enjoyed about being an attorney? I enjoy most working as an attorney with business clients when I am able to in effect serve from the outside as a part of their business team. Helping them through successes and challenges is rewarding.
Why Craige Jenkins? Craige Jenkins, and both of its predecessor firms, have attorneys that handle most all types of legal matters that a business, organization or individual could experience. That diversity is a strength I enjoy.
Hobbies? I have been a member of the pre-dawn crowd at the downtown YMCA since my late 20’s, mostly swimming or using work out machines. Whenever I can I like to go to the beach — any beach but usually Sunset Beach.
Most Memorable Trip? The Atlanta Olympics. As corporate counsel I participated in negotiating one of those Olympics’ largest licensing deals for the US Team’s non-competition apparel. I then “worked” for a week in Atlanta during the Olympics, starting mornings with 6:00 AM anti-counterfeiting meetings but usually managing to attend afternoon and evening competitions. Most memorable was having a choice of premium seats for my family to one event—6th row at the finish line for the Women’s track finals (Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Merlene Ottey and Gail Devers). The 100,000 in attendance was the most electric sports crowd I have ever witnessed.
Community activities? I have served several 3-year terms as a Board member of the Arts Council as well as Chair of the annual find raising campaign for 2011-2012. I have served several terms as a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church. I enjoy advising attendees regarding job searching at Goodwill Job Fairs.
NC Bar Association Activities? Most of my activities in recent years have been with the Business Law Section of the Bar.
