Ms. Smitherman is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Why did you choose to become an attorney? Because my mom is an attorney. She went to law school when I was in middle school, and I thought it was the greatest thing a person could do.
What have you enjoyed about being an attorney? I like meeting clients from different walks of life and learning about their businesses, their families, and how we might be able to help them. I think I learn a lot from my clients.
Why did you choose to work for Craige Jenkins? I worked for Craige Jenkins for a little while in law school, and I was impressed with all of the attorneys and the focus on the clients.
Favorite hobbies? Running, reading science fiction novels, playing xbox, reading comics (especially Deadpool) and horseback riding
What is your most memorable trip? Japan, 2005, with my husband to visit a law school classmate. It was really great to be in a culture that was so different from American culture.
NC Bar Association activities? I’m the chair of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section’s legislative committee right now. I get to work with a bunch of really smart lawyers who are trying to make North Carolina’s laws fairer and more efficient. It’s really a lot of fun.
