Q&A
I chose to pursue a legal career because it fit my character and my desire to help people.
The people that I have been able to help as clients and the friendships with colleagues and co-workers. I have been the beneficiary of knowing and working with so many talented and good people and that is what makes the practice of law great.
I love to play golf. I like to read, watch old war movies, and actually go to the movies and do the popcorn eating thing!
When the merger idea first came about, I felt a sense of renewal as a lawyer and a real excitement about helping to build a really quality law firm. Rare is the opportunity to surround oneself with the combination of superb legal talent and really quality people. The choice to move forward with Craige Jenkins was an easy one for me.
I serve on the Real Property Section Council for the Bar Association and also a chairman of the NC Land Records Task Force. I have been fortunate to be a member of a great local Bar association and have served as a speaker at several local Bar seminars.
Maybe the “glamorous” was winning a lawsuit for a client who recovered $250,000.00 from, of all things, a church who had failed to repay funds to him. When he got his money, he cried. Frankly, I get just as big a thrill when I help a first time homebuyer close a loan on that first place that they will always remember. It is just so positive and exciting for everybody, especially the client.
