T. Lawson Newton
Lawson is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. His practice areas include residential real estate, commercial real estate, homeowners’ associations, corporate law, basic estate planning, and real estate litigation.
Lawson is a past chairman of the North Carolina Land Records Task Force and a past member of the real property section council for the North Carolina Bar Association. He is also a member of the Forsyth County Bar Association and has served as a speaker at several local bar seminars.
Lawson loves to play golf, as well as reading, watching old war movies, and actually going to the movies and doing the popcorn eating thing. Of his most memorable client experience, Lawson says this: Maybe the “glamorous” experience was winning a lawsuit for a client who recovered $250,000.00 from, of all things, a church who had failed to repay funds to him. When he got his money, he cried. Frankly, I get just as big a thrill when I help a first-time homebuyer close a loan on that first place that they will always remember. It is just so positive and exciting for everybody, especially the client.
- Lawson received his B.S. from Wake Forest University in 1976 and received his J.D. from Wake Forest University in 1986.
