We help individuals and businesses resolve a wide range of contract and business related disputes, including claims involving breach of contract, covenants not to compete, fraud, and unfair and deceptive trade practices. We also handle employment matters for both employees and employers.
We represent clients in land disputes, such as agreements to convey land, deeds given under alleged undue influence or insufficient mental capacity, and trespass. We handle construction and remodeling disputes, both for the owner buyer and the contractor seller.
The firm’s extensive estate planning, estate administration, and elder law practice leads us to help our clients in disputes and lawsuits involving the appointment and removal of personal representatives, breach of duty by fiduciaries such as attorneys-in-fact and personal representatives, caveats, incompetency proceedings, and the appointment of guardians.
We help our clients through difficult domestic disputes, including divorce, child support and custody, post-separation support and alimony, and equitable distribution. We also handle premarital agreements, postnuptial agreements, name changes, and adoptions.
CJLW assists its business and individual clients in collecting unpaid debts in any amount, in and out of North Carolina. Unlike some other firms, we do not stop our efforts when we obtain a judgment for our clients; we use supplemental proceedings and every other available legal procedure to force the debtor to actually pay the amount owed.
We handle cases involving motor vehicle accidents, products liability, and premises liability. We also represent clients prosecuting and defending claims of professional malpractice in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and law.
We represent and advise two railroads that operate in central North Carolina on all claims for: personal injury and property damage under state or federal law and regulations; easements and other property rights; contracts; collective bargaining disputes; and other related matters.
We handle appeals in state and federal courts, including cases in which we did not represent the client at the trial level. All attorneys are members of the North Carolina State Bar and are admitted to practice before all North Carolina courts.
